BUZZY BEAUTY | MicroCurrent Devices—Do They Really Work?

Have you heard all of the beauty buzz (pun intended!) about microcurrent devices? These small, handheld gadgets use safe, low-voltage electricity to stimulate and tone facial muscles and cells. They promise to reduce fine lines, promote overall skin health, and help you achieve a more uplifted complexion. I’ve been intrigued by these devices for some time and used two different devices. Today, I’m explaining how they work and sharing my experience.

Did you know that professional, in-office microcurrent treatments have been around for more than two decades? You may remember back when they first appeared on the scene. They were called the ‘non-surgical facelift’ and they were the trendiest red carpet facial out there! Obviously, in-office treatments use much stronger wavelengths and currents than at-home devices! Pro treatments are pricey! A series of 10 treatments spread out every two to five weeks is recommended, and you can typically expect to pay $250 to $500 per session.

As you might expect, at-home microcurrent devices work on a lower charge than in-office equipment. While they do have similar benefits, the results are notably subtler. There’s a huge cost differential too! For a purchased device, you only have one up-front payment, and then the tool is yours to keep and use as often as you want.

This is a great time to interject 😊: I share sponsored posts occasionally on EmptyNestBlessed.com, but only with brands I love and use myself. However, in this case, I’m merely sharing my personal experience using these devices. Although a product was gifted to me (keep reading for details), this is not a sponsored post!

How Do Microcurrent Devices Work?

Let’s be honest! Microcurrent technology sounds kind of like something out of a sci-fi movie! Who wouldn’t be skeptical? How do they work anyway? Are they safe? Are they worth the money?

Microcurrent devices deliver safe, low-level electrical currents to the muscles and skin cells, mimicking the body’s natural electrical frequencies. Essentially, they tighten and smooth the muscles and connective tissues in your face, which in turn, reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and facial sagging. The devices can also help boost collagen production, improve blood circulation, and assist with lymphatic drainage.

You see results right away, but typically, they are temporary.

Are Microcurrent Devices Safe to Use?

Of course, you should ask your dermatologist whether microcurrent treatments are a good choice for your specific skin concerns! They are generally safe to use unless you have epilepsy, diabetes, or heart issues (or if you are pregnant 🤣). Also, if you have acne, you should know that microcurrent devices can potentially stimulate inflammation, so that’s something to be mindful of as well.

How Long Does a Treatment Last?

My Experience with Microcurrent Devices

I’ve used two different microcurrent devices. I’ve used another well-known device in the past but gave it up after not seeing long-lasting, visible results. Last year, while researching a post I wanted to write on microcurrent devices (You’re reading it now!), I got an email from ZIIP Beauty, telling me about ZIIP HALO.

Y’all, I get dozens of emails from brands every day—but this one caught my eye. I clicked through to their website and researched the product for myself. They offered to send me a ZIIP HALO. I said yes because this device stood out from the crowd of microcurrent devices. Keep reading to see why.

Unlike other microcurrent devices, ZIIP HALO is the only home-use beauty device in the world to use both microcurrent and nanocurrent waves. By adding nanocurrent waves to microcurrent, it stimulates the skin at the cellular level to provide more powerful, longer-lasting results.

MICROCURRENTNANOCURRENT
✔️ Stimulates facial muscles✔️Works on a cellular level
✔️ Lifts, tones, and sculpts✔️ Triggers the production of the chemical ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), which naturally declines with age, to stimulate collagen production and promote skin cell regeneration
✔️ Gives an immediate effect✔️Works over time to brighten and reduce fine lines & wrinkles

I started by using my ZIIP HALO about five times a week. I saw results right away! It took about six weeks for me to see long-term results.

My Results

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

  • Lifting & Toning
  • Skin tightening
  • Smoother skin texture
  • More even skin tone
  • De-puffing (I think I just made up a new term! 😂)
  • Plumping

How to Use Ziip Halo

ZIIP HALO comes with an easy-to-follow quick-start guide, which makes learning the basics a snap! A complete basic treatment only takes 4 minutes!

Step 1

Apply 4-8 pumps of the conducting gel to clean, dry skin and turn on the device.

Step 2

When you turn on the device, it defaults to the basic treatment. Touch both globes to your skin and start lifting in up and out motions. The device will indicate when it’s time to move from one side of your face (or neck) to the other.

Step 3

When you finish, wash off your gel, and proceed with your normal skincare routine.

How to Use the Ziip App

Once I got the basic treatment down, I decided to explore the video tutorials on the Ziip App for more targeted, advanced treatments (see photos above). When you tap one of the videos, it sends the treatment right to your device, so with one click, you can follow the video and do one of the more advanced treatments.

  • 7 Full Facials – One-click treatments that treat the entire face and range from 4-12 minutes each.
  • 6 Targeted Treatments – Fast 2-3 minute treatments that focus on a specific area of the face. Want to define your jawline? There’s a treatment for that! Want to elevate your brows and smooth out brow lines? There’s a treatment for that! (And the list goes on…)
  • 3 Treatment Plans – These plans range from a 14-day intro plan to help you explore ways to use the device to a 7-day plan to help you prep for an upcoming big event and a 30-day plan for the “best skin of your life.”

What I Do

I use my ZIIP HALO 3-5 times a week. As you can see in the before and after photos I shared earlier in this post, I see immediate lifting results after each treatment, and I know the long-term effects are working at a cellular level too! When I started out, I felt like the results lasted a couple of days, but I definitely found that the more consistent I am, the longer my results last. Also, as I became more comfortable and confident using the ZIIP HALO, my results were better.

I hope you’ve learned a lot today! I did my best to break down not only how these devices work, but also to share honestly about the results I’ve had using one!

I love my ZIIP HALO so much and have seen such great results; I asked the brand if they would be open to sharing a coupon code that I could pass along to you all. They generously offered a 10% discount with the code ZIIPSUZY.

Have you ever used a microcurrent device? Which one did you use? How did you feel about your results? I’d love it if you’d leave me a comment and share your experience with our community!
