Meet My Assistant, Beth, + Find Out What She Does for Me & ENB

After going about 6 months without an assistant. I knew it was time! My new assistant has been working for me for two months now (I had to make sure she was a keeper before I introduced you!????), and now it’s time for you to meet! So in today’s post, I’m introducing you to Beth!

Whether you’re throwing a party, creating jewelry, or even planning a trip, you know…things always take longer than the finished product looks like it took! In fact, the more effortless something looks, probably the better the planning and preparation was. It’s no different with Empty Nest Blessed!

I’ve had assistants off and on for the past 5 years or so. (Can you believe it’s been almost 8 years total? If you’ve been with me since the beginning, let me know in the comments, okay?) With an active presence on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, PLUS shops on LTK and Amazon, PLUS blogging here on ENB, and partnerships with brands, it’s just too much for one person to handle. (Especially at the level of excellence I think you all deserve!)

When I hire assistants, I never specify an age. But I do pray like crazy for the Lord to bring me the right person! And I write a thorough job description that sounds kind of intimidating! ???????? It’s always fun to see who the Lord brings me!

The assistants I had in the past were all in their 20s, which was awesome! It was so valuable to have tech-savvy 20-somethings share their perspectives on life, fashion, beauty, and more. What made them even more valuable to me was that they were the age of many of our kids. A couple of the posts they wrote with me are still some of the most-viewed posts on the site. Like THIS one, THIS one, and THIS one.

This time the Lord brought me a long-time ENB follower, another empty nester, and a smart, joyful, enthusiastic woman who has quickly become a good friend! I can’t wait for you to get to know her. ????

Meet my Assistant, Beth

Greetings, everyone! As an empty nester myself, I’m thrilled to join the team at Empty Nest Blessed. My husband, Randy, and I have been happily married for 27 years, and we have two children: Ryan, 26, and Randi Elizabeth, 24. We also have a 1-year-old mini Bernadoodle named Remy, who is spoiled rotten. Recently, my son proposed to his girlfriend, Bri, and we are overjoyed to be embarking on this new chapter in our family’s life. We are so excited to begin planning the wedding!

Currently, I live in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida, where I enjoy the warm weather and everything Disney. As an annual passholder, I visit the parks 1 to 2 times per month!

My husband and I recently joined the RV/camping craze and purchased a fifth-wheel travel trailer. We love camping so much that we’ve decided to try it out full-time this summer!  We’re going to explore Florida while working remotely

Connecting with Suzy has been a true blessing for me. I was a stay-at-home mom for most of my children’s lives and enjoyed being involved in their school and sports activities. When my youngest went to college, I began following Empty Nest Blessed, which provided valuable guidance and support during that transitional time. Now, after a few years, my husband and I have settled into our empty nest and discovered how much fun it is and how rewarding it is to cultivate relationships with our adult children.

As Suzy’s assistant, I am beyond excited to learn more about the ins and outs of blogging and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into it. I have discovered that there is much, much more to it than I initially thought, and it has allowed me to tap into my creative, organizational, and planning skills.

SUZY’S NOTE: Isn’t Beth a gem? I feel so blessed to have her, and I hope she’s with me for a long, long time! Every day I teach her something new about the business side of what I do, and she’s been such an enthusiastic learner! If you’ve been hanging around here any time at all, you KNOW how important I think it is to keep learning & growing in the empty nest! Beth embraces that, and I’m so grateful!

Beth has been managing my Pinterest, posting on my LTK shop, doing some work on Instagram Stories, making collages and other graphics, and looking into some of my analytics to help me make decisions on what posts you all enjoy and want to see more. (Beauty & Fashion posts are your favorites!) She’s basically learning the business side of what I do from the ground up!

Want to learn more about the business side of ENB? You can check out THIS post. I pulled back the curtain and shared all the behind-the-scenes info on how the blogging/influencing/content creator business works! Empty Nest Blessed is actually a small business. Yep! It’s an LLC, and I’ve trademarked the phrase “Empty Nest Blessed.” I’m working on a post for May where I’m going to spill the tea on the business side of what I do here. (More on that below.) Just like it surprised Beth, it will probably surprise you too!????

Tips for Empty Nesters

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to be a guest on Mighty Health’s Homebody YouTube show and share my tips for how to thrive as an empty nester!

So many women struggle with feeling a loss of identity once their kids leave the house! As we’ve talked about many times on ENB, that’s normal! It’s a big life transition. But you can embrace it with joy and gratitude!

  1. Hi Suzy!
Great video and advice, what you said is so true!
I loved the idea about asking the kids to walk you through their day. It provides so much additional insight into their world.
