The HydraFacial: A Brightening, Glow-Inducing Treatment for Your Skin

This year, I’m partnering with the dermatologists at The Dallas Center for Dermatology & Aesthetics in order to get some straight answers to your questions about everything from skincare to aesthetics. As a part of that partnership, this procedure was complimentary. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever heard of a HydraFacial? Right now, it’s one of the most popular in-office facial treatments. In fact, one is performed every 15 seconds around the world. It’s become the go-to facial for celebs, your co-workerand Facebook friend from high school because it targets many of the most common skincare concerns like dryness and signs of aging with little to no side effects.

What is a HydraFacial?

It’s a 3-step, 30-minute medical-grade resurfacing facial that uses a patented device to cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin. At its core, it’s a gentle peel, microdermabrasion, and hydrating mask in one! Although it uses glycolic and salicylic acids, there is no uncomfortable burning sensation whatsoever.

Who is a Candidate for a HydraFacial?

Everyone! It’s good for teenagers with acne; adults with wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. HydraFacial addresses all of these skin care issues:

  • Fine lines & Wrinkles
  • Elasticity & Firmness
  • Skin Tone & Vibrancy
  • Skin Texture
  • Brown Spots
  • Congested & Oily Skin
  • Enlarged Pores

Where Can You Get a HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is only available in medical spas or dermatology offices.

How Does the HydraFacial Work?

The HydraFacial is a high-tech facial! It uses a patented device to cleanse, extract, and hydrate.

What Are the Steps in a HydraFacial?

Step 1: Cleanse & Peel

This step uses a cleansing serum to cleanse and exfoliate gently. It removes dead skin cells to resurface and reveal a fresh new layer of skin. Next, a blend of glycolic and salicylic acids provides a light, superficial peel, which loosens dirt and other impurities (without redness or irritation).

Step 2: Extract & Hydrate

The extractions that occur with HydraFacial are not the typical extractions that happen with other facials! Those can leave you red and inflamed the next day. Instead, HydraFacial uses a patented, painless suction tool to remove impurities and debris from your pores. It felt awesome! It reminded me of a vacuum cleaner for my face! ????

Step 3: Fuse & Protect

Once your skin is cleansed, exfoliated, and debris is extracted, your pores are ripe for nourishment! For the final step, HydraFacial uses a powerful antioxidant and peptide serum to saturate the skin’s surface and provide lasting protection and nourishment. (Hello, glow!) Here’s what’s in the serum:

  • Antioxidants: Help protect and repair skin cells by isolating damaging free radicals.
  • Peptides: Amino acids that boost the production of collagen and elastin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Naturally produced by the body, hyaluronic acid hydrates, and plumps, giving skin volume.

What’s the Cost of a HydraFacial?

The physicians & aestheticians recommended an ideal skincare regimen of products for women over 50, and I have been using those products since late January. I’m using the entire regimen, but that certainly isn’t necessary. You can pick and choose the products from the regimen that will best meet your needs. What Results Can You Expect from a HydraFacial?

Although it includes exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and serum application, the facial only takes 30 minutes! It was completely relaxing, and I loved that there was absolutely no downtime because there was no irritation or peeling. I saw immediate benefits like reduced fine lines, smaller pores, and a brighter complexion.

Although a Hydrafacial would be ideal before a big event, I’d be sure to do it the day before. When I got my HydraFacial, I will tell you that I was really glad I didn’t have any plans for the rest of the day! The last thing I wanted to do was put on makeup! Instead, I went home and enjoyed the glow, just adding a rich moisturizer on my skin before bed.
