Everybody knows…accessories are where the magic happens! 👜💅🕶️ Right? Clothing may be the foundation, but accessories are what make an outfit feel intentional, personalized, and special. They’re also the easiest way to work in the latest trends without overhauling your closet or breaking the bank! Sometimes all you need are a few beautiful updates that make what you already own feel fresh again.

If you missed the rest of our Spring and Summer 2026 Style Guide, be sure to take a look! We’ve covered everything this season — from 2026 color trends and patterns to the latest clothing styles and the must-have shoe trends for women over 50.

We’re so excited to share the Spring and Summer 2026 accessory trends with you today! They’re chic, polished, and surprisingly wearable. Let’s start with the category that makes the biggest impact.

Handbags That Mean Business (But Make It Chic)

Handbags are looking a little more structured again this season, and I’m here for it! We’re seeing top-handle satchels, structured leather totes, east-west shoulder bags, and compact crossbody bags leading the Spring and Summer 2026 accessory trends.

And yes… the bucket bag is having a major moment.

What makes this year’s version feel fresh is the shape. Instead of the slouchy styles we’ve seen in the past, the silhouettes are more refined and structured. Think leather bucket bags or medium-sized bucket crossbodies that hold their shape and instantly elevate even the simplest outfit.

Another thing we’re seeing across the board is medium-sized handbags. Not oversized. Not mini. Just beautifully balanced and practical for everyday life. A structured crossbody, classic bucket bag, or top-handle satchel adds polish to relaxed spring and summer outfits.

Warm neutrals like creamy white, rich tan, and chocolate brown are leading, but a cherry red or blush-toned bag adds a confident pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: Start with one structured neutral handbag you’ll carry constantly. Then add a bucket bag in a fresh color if you want something fun for the season.

Jewelry That Feels Bold but Balanced

Jewelry this season is making a statement — but in a refined way. We’re seeing chunkier gold chain necklaces, sculptural cuff bracelets, oversized hoop earrings, and layered pendant necklaces everywhere right now. The pieces feel a little bolder, but still polished and wearable.

Instead of lots of tiny, barely-there jewelry, the trend is moving toward intentional shapes and standout pieces that add personality to even the simplest outfit.

Gold continues to dominate, especially warm yellow gold tones, but mixed metals are still welcome. Silver cuffs, textured gold hoops, and sculptural statement earrings all pair beautifully with simple spring and summer clothing.

Layered necklaces are also strong this season. Think delicate chains worn together or a bold chain paired with a single pendant. It feels modern, but not overwhelming.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: Choose one focal piece per outfit. If you’re wearing bold hoop earrings, keep the necklace simpler. If you’re layering necklaces, skip the oversized earrings. Let one element shine.

Oversized Sunglasses (Yes, They’re Still In)

Oversized sunglasses aren’t going anywhere — and thank goodness. They’re flattering, practical, and instantly elevate your look. This season we’re seeing large square frames, oversized rounded shapes, soft cat-eye styles, and classic tortoiseshell frames.

Tortoiseshell continues to lead, along with warmbrown lenses, classic black frames, and creamy ivory tones. For something a little more modern, try brown-gradient lenses or soft blush-tinted frames.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: If you’re unsure about oversized frames, start with a medium- to large-square tortoiseshell frame. It’s timeless and universally flattering. For your eye health, make sure your sunglasses protect against UV rays and are polarized. My favorite polarized sunglasses brand is available right on Amazon at a (surprisingly) great price. See the selection HERE.

Makeup That Warms and Brightens

Makeup trends for Spring and Summer 2026 are all about warmth and glow. We’re seeing soft berry blush, warm coral blush (Use code SUZY10 for10% off), peach-toned highlighters, and skin-focused foundations (Use code SUZY20 for 20% off) that enhance rather than mask. The overly matte look is fading. Fresh, luminous finishes are in. Laura Geller just released a handy full-face cream makeup palette that is ideal for women over 50. Want to get glowy? Start with THIS.

Lips are leaning toward warm coral lipsticks, soft rose glosses, watermelon-toned lip colors, and sheer berry balms. Red lips are also resurfacing — but in slightly softer, more wearable formulas. Eye makeup is shifting toward brown eyeliner instead of harsh black, warm bronze shadows, taupe shimmers, and even burgundy mascara for a subtle but striking update.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: If you try only one thing this season, swap your black eyeliner for espresso brown. It’s softer, warmer, and incredibly flattering over 50.

Nail Colors That Feel Fresh and Polished

Nails are polished but playful this season. Sheer pink, milky blush, warm coral, classic cherry red, and even watermelon-inspired shades are all trending for spring and summer. The overall vibe is clean, glossy, and fresh rather than overly intricate.

We’re also seeing soft lavender and muted peach tones, especially in gel and high-gloss finishes. If bold color isn’t your thing, a sheer pink or creamy neutral will always feel timeless and current.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: Shorter, softly rounded nails look modern and elegant at any age. Shape matters just as much as color.

The Best Part of Accessory Trends

Accessories let us play. They allow us to experiment with color, proportion, and personality without committing to a full wardrobe overhaul. A structured handbag, bold hoop earrings, oversized sunglasses, or a fresh nail color can completely refresh what you already own.

That’s what makes being over 50 so fun! We’re not dressing to impress. We’re dressing to express. Choose the pieces that make you feel confident. The ones that make you smile. The ones that feel like you — just a little updated for the season ahead.

Let me know in the comments what accessory trends you’re excited about this year! I’m all in on oversized sunnies! THESE are my faves, and they’re under $14!

  1. Thanks for the heads up on the SoJos brand sunglasses-I’m going to try a square one in tortiseshell instead of my usual black! Looking forward to spring!

  2. That blue and yellow maxi dress looks amazing on you. I love a soft, feminine look. Young women need to dress like this instead of the too-small, clingy stuff they wear. You look stunning! What a great dress to wear for Easter. I’m on the short side, so I tend to avoid long dresses, because I perceive myself as not being able to carry them well. But I love the look on you.

    1. Maryann,

Thank you! So sweet of you to say. This season, if you’re on the shorter side, I would encourage you to look for midi dresses rather than “maxi” dresses (which I prefer at 5’5″). We’re not seeing to-the-floor dresses this year, and “maxi” dresses tend to be closer to mid-to-lower calf. That said, the “midi” dresses might hit you at just the right spot!

      Thanks for your comment!

      xoxo
