3 Drugstore Beauty Products I’m Loving Right Now + Life Update
Welcome to the weekend! It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these posts, and I’ve been missing you all! My weekend posts are some of my favorites because I can open up and share from my heart. I kinda feel like I’m just chatting with my friends over coffee! ☕
Today I thought it would be fun to catch you up on a few things in my life, plus share three drugstore beauty products I am using and loving right now! Plus, I’m running down a few of the sales that I think are worth your time.
Drugstore Beauty Products I Love
If you saw my post this week about the beauty buys I recommend in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (which ends Sunday night!), then you know I will spend money on a good and effective beauty product or tool. But I love to save, just like anyone, so lemme tell ya, when I find a drugstore product that I love and that works, I’m thrilled! Let’s dive in!
1. Tresemme One Step Volume Spray
I’m always looking for ways to add volume to my fine hair, and this 5-in-1 product is a winner! I found it when I was looking for a blow-dry heat protectant spray, and when I saw the word “volume,” I decided to take a chance on it! I am so glad I did. It not only provides heat protection but also adds volume, strengthens, has anti-static properties, and provides a light hold. Grab it at Target for $7.19 or Walmart for $6.96. (Out of stock at Amazon.)
2. Garnier Retinol-Berry Serum Cream
This is another multi-tasker that I love! It stays on all night, so I know it’s working! Like, I can still feel it on my face in the morning! 🙌 This 3-in-1 product is a retinol serum, a night moisturizer, and a rejuvenating eye cream in one! You know I’m a big believer in retinols, and this one never causes dryness, stinging, or peeling. In an 8-week clinical study, 100 percent of people showed fine line reduction when they used it! If you’re a first-time retinol user, it’s a great choice! Grab it at Amazon for $16.14 or Walmart for $16.97. (Out of stock at Target.)
3. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen
Okay, so if you’ve been hanging out here with me for a while, you know how much I love Supergoop’s PLAY Sunscreen. It goes on like a dream, absorbs quickly, and is broad-spectrum. Bob loves it too! So when Consumer Reports came out this summer with its annual review of the best sunscreens, I was appalled when I didn’t see PLAY Sunscreen anywhere on its list of recommended products 😲.
Guess what topped the list? La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen! Consumer Reports uses a testing protocol modeled on the one the FDA requires sunscreen manufacturers to use. But they use those standards as mere benchmarks! As they test, they develop their own methodology to identify differences in performance — in order to provide consumers with a comparative evaluation.
Melt-In Milk Sunscreen is Octinoxate & Oxybenzone-free, and it provides broad spectrum SPF 60 protection. It’s not really greasy, but I would call it hydrating. It’s full of to help protect your skin from free radicals caused by UV rays, and it’s water resistant for 80 minutes. Buy it at Walmart for $32.89, Target for $36.99, or Amazon for $34.19.
What’s Up, Weekend
Life is moving fast these days!
Cruise/Covid Update
Yep, we got Covid on our cruise! I talked all about it on my Instagram in THIS post. If you missed it, you might want to consider adding me as one of your “favorite” Instagram accounts. That way, you’ll be sure to see everything I post! Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Tap your profile icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Tap the three-bar menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then tap Favorites towards the bottom of the list.
- Type the name or handle of the account you want to add in the Search bar. Alternatively, you can find the account in the suggestions list, then tap the Add button next to it.
- When you’re done, tap Confirm Favorites.
If you follow me on Facebook, you can see the cruise/Covid post HERE. You can also follow me on Facebook, so you always see my content. Here’s how:

- Go to the Empty Nest Blessed page.
- Tap “Follow.”
Grandparent Update
Bob and I are thrilled that we are going to be first-time grandparents in January! (Did you see my Instagram post about that?) I told you all about it in THIS life update blog post. I think I’ve figured out my Grandma name, but Bob is still struggling. When I took to my Instagram and Facebook Story to ask my followers for help with his name, we got a lot of great suggestions! These are just a few. Our favorite is, without a doubt, the one from the dad-to-be — at the very bottom! 🤣🤣🤣
Hiring Update
I told you in THIS post that I was looking for a new assistant! After 4 years, my wonderful assistant needed to move on and pursue an actual career! (Working for me is fun, and you learn a lot of transferrable skills, but I wouldn’t call it a career!)
After talking to a few people and just not finding the right fit, it became clear that the Lord is calling me to take a step back and lessen my workload rather than keep looking for more help. So, rather than approaching ENB as a job the way I have been, I’m going to be fitting it into my life when it works for me. Don’t worry! I still have a lot that I want to share with you! Expect to see fewer blog and social media posts but more posts where I share my actual life with you. (Be sure you’re following me on Instagram, Facebook, and LTK, so you don’t miss anything, okay?)
Avara Lara Dress in “Jade” (On sale for almost 30% off + use THIS LINK and code SUZY15 to take an extra 15% off sitewide) | Pearl Embellished Jelly Sandals | Pearl Hoop Earrings | White Handbag
When I shared that with a follower and friend recently, she asked me, “Are you still going to make your life as shoppable as possible when you share things with us? Will we still be able to shop for your outfits and favorite products?” 😂 The answer is “Yes!”
I would love to see fall fashion trends! Thank you!!
Paula
Paula,
Okay! Thanks for letting me know!

Suzy
Hi! So much fun content here. Congratulations on the news of becoming grandparents. Will you post all of the “grandma” name suggestions? My son (also Weston!) and his wife just gave us the “big news” a few days ago! DIL parents will be Mimi and Papa. Us???? Thank you.
Andrea,
I actually didn’t ask for grandma name suggestions! But I’m going to! Will share! I can’t believe you have a Weston too! How special!

Suzy
Hey, Suzy!
Such exciting times for you! Many of us were wondering what we would do in the Empty Nest years, and it seem like things keep naturally popping up to keep us busy, especially when our children start having children!!
I look forward to your future posts, and am glad you are able to find some balance with this aspect of your life in the midst of caring for your husband and other priorities!
Enjoy your trip to Austin! My oldest and her family have purchased a home there after 6 years of renting, so I think we will now have permanent TX trips! Hope to see you on a future one!
Blessings to you and yours!
Betsie,
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was clear that the Lord was calling me to pull back. I can’t help but obey – He is so good to me! Isn’t it amazing how busy and fulfilling the empty nest years are? I think it’s been one of the sweetest surprises for me!
I’m thrilled to hear that you’ll be spending more time in our state and I so look forward to some time together!
xoxo
