My Summer Travel Styles | Wearable Getaway Looks You’ll Love

I’ve had so many requests from you to do a post on my summer travel styles! I’m so happy about that! Shopping for vacation outfits is so much fun, and this year I found it more fun than ever. I’ve really enjoyed sharing my getaway looks with you so far this summer, and I’m thrilled that I’m inspiring you as you shop for yours.

Back in mid-May, after Bob and I got back from a little couples getaway to our beach condo on Sanibel Island, I put together a post called AFFORDABLE BEACH VACATION OUTFIT IDEAS | HERE’S WHAT I WORE LAST WEEK. I had such a great response to that post that I decided to do it again after this last trip.

Then reality set in. 😬

A Peek BTS

UPF 50+ Tie Sleeve Swing Dress | Similar Pearl-Embellished Sandals or HERE | Pearl Stud Earrings | Sunglasses

There were just too many outfits, and it just got to be overwhelming! On my most recent Sanibel trip, I had my two assistants come and stay (in our second condo) the first week we were there. We shot a ton (see above!), made a bunch of Reels (Be sure you’re following me on Instagram, so you don’t miss any of those!), and did some work for some brands. I’ve already posted some of what we worked on up on Instagram and the Empty Nest Blessed page on the LiketoKnow.it app, and some of that is yet to come.

I didn’t want to make you wait until I’d posted everything to have access to my summer travel looks! So…I went ahead and created a Vacation Outfit Ideas page that I’ll be updating all summer. That way, you’ll be able to see all of my summer travel looks in all one spot. You’ll be able to click on any image for more information and to shop.

Affordable Summer Travel Styles

Palm Print Maxi Dress (also comes in black) | Beaded Palm Print Earrings (Sold out – similar HERE) | Similar Pearl-Embellished Sandals or HERE | Lipstick

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, most of my looks are really affordable! That doesn’t mean I won’t spend a little more for an important occasion, however! The last time we were in Sanibel, I wore this amazing maxi dress from Tommy Bahama for a special family birthday party. The fit is incredible, thanks to the empire waist and the ruching right in the center!

Smocked Tank Top | 7″ Knit Scallop Hem Shorts (order 1 size down) | Navy & Pink Cap Toe Espadrilles (under $20) | Navy Blue Rattan Disc Earrings | Sunglasses

Also, you know I’m a fan of Lilly Pulitzer, and every summer, I snag a few pieces that I just love! This year, I bought these stretchy 7″ scallop-edged knit shorts in two different patterns, along with the darling tiered swing dress below. (Nearly sold out in pink, but still lots in the blue print.)

Sleeveless Tiered Dress (Blue Print HERE) | Multi-Colored Tassel Hoop Earrings (These go with everything!) | Lipstick

Speaking of my Lilly Pulitzer shorts, they were perfect for bike riding and other active pursuits! I bought them in my usual size, and at the beginning of the day, they fit great. But by the end of the day they’d stretched out, and I was pulling them up like crazy! So, order a size down if you want them!

Sizing

Pink V-Neck Tee | 7″ Scallop-Edged Knit Shorts | Similar Pink Sneakers | Beaded Mini Hoop Earrings | Sunglasses | Packable Sun Hat

Unless I indicate otherwise, you can always assume that things I share fit TTS (true to size). If they don’t, I’ll suggest that you order either up or down a size. Just consider me your sizing guinea pig!😁

I like to think that as women, we’re like a bouquet of flowers💐. We’re all built differently, and that’s what makes us special. I have what is called an “athletic build.” That means I have a small bust, and because of that, I’m not terribly curvy. For reference, I’m typically a size 0 or 00 (XS or XXS) up top and a size 2 or XS on the bottom. My height is 5’5″. Not sure what body type you have?

We’re working on a post about different body types and styles that work best on each of them. Watch for it in the upcoming weeks. If you’re not on the Empty Nest Blessed email list, you might want to subscribe so you don’t miss a thing! Subscribers are the only ones who receive my exclusive weekend posts, filled with insider scoop, a curated list of the best weekend sales, and special deals just for subscribers! 🙌

When I select my travel looks, I try to select a variety of styles that would work on a variety of women, but honestly, I’m limited by my own sizing! (Most clothing is not made for women with little-to-no bust! 😂) The bottom line is, if it doesn’t look right on me, it’s probably not going to appeal to you, and I know that! Please know that I do the best I can, and I trust that you all know your own bodies and if the styles I share will work well for you.

More Summer Travel Styles Are Coming!

Bob and I are traveling a bunch this summer, with three scheduled trips to the mountains of Idaho to see our daughter perform at Starlight Mountain Theater, as well as a trip to Miami and Orlando. So there are lots more vacation outfit ideas coming your way!

I’d Love Your Feedback

Please leave me a comment at the bottom of this post and let me know if there are any looks or brands that you want me to try, either this summer or beyond. Thanks to one follower, I’ve been shopping at Talbots more! I’ve loved their summer styles, and they always have amazing sales! I’ll do my best to check out your favorite brands too.

  1. Hi Suzy!
I was a model is my teens and twenties .When I visit your posts I go back in my mind of how fun it all was. Now I am in my fifties! Time goes by fast. Thank you for show casing feminine beauty and class into my generation. I am always inspired by you. Keep up the great work. I know it is done unto the Lord. I feel there has been a slippery slope to down grade the elegance women are to carry to the world. Let’s continue to represent the New Eve in Christ and make our Heavenly Father happy.
