Shoes can make or break an outfit — and at this stage of life, we’re not interested in breaking anything, especially our feet! Hahaha!

The good news is that Spring and Summer 2026 shoe trends are refreshingly wearable. We’re seeing a lot of neutral colors, along with sleek profiles, stable heels, supportive flats, and polished details that feel modern without feeling fussy. The silhouettes pair beautifully with the longer hemlines and softer tailoring we’re already loving this season. Need to brush up on the 2026 Spring & Summer fashion trends? But today, it’s ALL about shoes! (YAY!) Let’s look at the five shoe trends that are actually worth your attention — the ones that combine style and comfort in the best possible way.
Sleek Sneakers and the Rise of Sneakerinas
Sneakers are still very much in the picture this season — they’ve simply had a glow-up! Instead of the chunky, heavy “dad sneaker” look that dominated for a while, we’re seeing streamlined white leather sneakers, slim suede trainers, and minimalist low-top court sneakers that feel lighter and more refined. They still give you comfort, but they also give you polish, and that combination is such a win.
And then there’s the most fun word of the season: “sneakerinas.” If you haven’t heard it yet, you’re about to! Sneakerinas are a sweet little blend of a sneaker and a ballet flat — think ballet-inspired trainers that feel graceful but supportive. Even Adidas made some! They’re modern, they’re feminine, and they make a simple outfit feel instantly current. These sleeker shapes look beautiful with wide-leg linen trousers, tailored Bermuda shorts, and structured midi dresses because they don’t overwhelm the silhouette. They complement it.
Suzy’s Pro Tip: A cream leather sneaker, soft blush sneakerina, or warm tan suede trainer will work across so many outfits this season.
Refined Mary Janes and Grown-Up Ballet Flats
Mary Janes are back, and they’re charming in the best possible way. We’re seeing almond-toe leather Mary Janes, square-toe Mary Jane flats, double-strap Mary Janes, and even low block-heel Mary Janes that feel polished rather than playful. They add personality without feeling costume-y.

Ballet flats are also stronger and more structured this season. Look for supportive leather ballet flats, structured suede ballet shoes, square-toe ballet flats, or cushioned-insole ballet flats that feel substantial enough for everyday life. These styles are especially lovely with linen midi skirts, ankle-length trousers (in petite HERE), and tailored shirt dresses. They bring a little softness and a lot of charm.

Suzy’s Pro Tip: A metallic leather Mary Jane or red ballet flat is such an easy way to add a pop of personality to a neutral outfit.
Backless Loafers and Polished Mules
If there’s a shoe that says effortless confidence, it’s a backless loafer. A pointed-toe leather mule, classic tan backless loafer, woven leather mule, or sleek suede slip-on instantly makes wide-leg trousers look intentional. They’re structured in the front, easy in the back, and incredibly versatile.
These are the kinds of shoes you can slip on in the morning and feel pulled together all day. They work beautifully with high-rise trousers, ankle-length pants, and tailored summer shorts, and they strike that perfect balance between relaxed and refined.
Suzy’s Pro Tip: A pointed neutral mule in cream, tan, or warm brown subtly elongates your leg line, especially with full-length trousers.
Clogs and Walkable Block Heels
Clogs are having a refined moment again, and honestly, they feel fresh. We’re seeing smooth leather clogs, suede mule clogs, low-heel platform clogs, and textured leather clogs that feel modern and grounded rather than novelty-driven.
At the same time, walkable block-heel sandals and closed-toe block-heel mules are everywhere. A two-inch leather block heel, stacked-heel sandal, or structured ankle-strap block heel adds lift without wobble, which is exactly what we want. Right? These silhouettes pair beautifully with midi dresses and relaxed tailoring because they provide balance and stability while still feeling stylish.
Suzy’s Pro Tip: Don’t underestimate how empowering a stable heel can feel! Confidence really does start from the ground up!
Elevated Details
Shoes are having fun this season, and so should we. We’re seeing studded leather flats (or faux-leather flats), neutral animal-print ballet flats, bejeweled sandals, crystal-accent Mary Janes, woven-leather slides, embellished mules, and lace sneakers (or lace-trimmed sneakers) that add personality in subtle, wearable ways.

Neutrals like creamy white or ivory flats, warm tan sandals, and rich brown loafers remain foundational, but pops of red leather ballet flats, blush-toned sandals, coral mules, and watermelon-hued flats, and flower-embellished sandals are bringing energy in the happiest way. If your wardrobe leans classic, one playful shoe can completely refresh it without requiring a total overhaul.
Suzy’s Pro Tip: Choose a silhouette you love first, then add color or detail. (As I did with the crystal-embellished mesh Mary Janes above) That keeps everything feeling polished and intentional.
Before You Shop
Shoes should make you smile. They make me smile! They should make you feel steady, stylish, and completely yourself. Don’t you think?

The best part of being over 50 is that we get to enjoy trends without pressure. We learn fun new terms like “sneakerinas”! We choose the shapes that flatter. We invest in pieces we’ll actually wear. When your shoes feel right, everything else does too. You’ve got this, girls!
Let me know in the comments what shoes you’re obsessed with this spring! (Clearly it’s the Mary Janes for me! hahaha)
