Every Saturday morning in the fall, our family group text starts this way: “Get up: it’s game day!” If you’ve been hanging around here for a while now, you know we’re huge college football fans in our family. College football season is right around the corner, and we’ve been counting down the days! Since we became empty nesters, going to games has been one of our favorite dates! It’s also become a great way to connect with old and new friends. We love football season for so many reasons!

I don’t know about you, but when I go to a game, I totally check out everyone’s game day looks! I think it’s so fun to see how creative people are! Today, I’m sharing my favorite sources for game day outfits, stadium-approved handbags, and even jewelry! If you see something you like, click through because it probably comes in your school colors too!

As always, click any of the pink text links or images for more information.

Game Day Looks: Clothing

When it comes to clothing on game day, there are really three types of looks! Right?

  1. CUTE & CASUAL – Think functional and practical outfits are for the sports fan who wants to look stylish and feel comfortable at the big game. I live in Texas so the weather during the season can be all over the place! Look for outfits that would be great for going up and down stadium stairs (the “fashion runway” at a game!), sweating in the stands, or carrying an armful of concession stand food back to your seats!
  2. BRANDED APPAREL – Branded apparel, while not quite as creative as something cute & casual, is always a safe bet for game day! This is big for men! Case in point, see Bob’s favorite brand HERE.
  3. THE SUITE LIFE – If you’re a fan who gets a *suite* view of the big game, my advice is to nix the logo attire unless it’s very subtle! For a classier look, wear a cute & casual dress, up your shoe, boot, or bootie game, and carry a nice handbag. (See below for more!)

Best Sources for Game Day Looks

Without a doubt, one of my favorite spots to shop for Game Day looks is Avara! Since it’s based in Dallas, Texas (where I live), it’s especially good for game day looks for all the Texas universities!

I’m an Avara Ambassador, which means if you’ve never shopped Avara, (or you haven’t in the past 90 days or so), you can use the code SUZY15 to take 15% off (sitewide) at Avara. The code resets every 90 days BUT in order to get the discount, you must click through on one of my links AND use promo code SUZY15!

How darling is this cute top? It features a ruffle detail on the shoulder, a square neckline, and sleeves that offer great coverage. It comes in 3 other colors and is somewhat a cropped length, making it perfect to wear with trendy high-waisted jeans or shorts!

These are the actual ones Bob custom designed. (The BEST gift I ever gave him!)
People ask about them every time he wears them!

Custom Nike Air Force 1s

For game day shoes for men, I recommend considering custom Nike Air Force 1s. I gave Bob a pair for Christmas, and he had the best time designing them himself! When our son saw them on Christmas Day, he immediately asked to design his own pair for his birthday. (His birthday wasn’t until April! 🤣) Sure enough, when his birthday rolled around, I knew just what to get him! 👍🙌

When it comes to branded apparel and fan gear for any sport, this is our family’s favorite place to shop! They carry SO many universities – even the smaller schools! Start HERE and see if they carry gear for your alma mater! Their selection is amazing!

From custom floral embroidered tees to custom-painted VANS sneakers, Etsy is a wealth of fun and unique game day look ideas! Game Day Looks: Handbags

Clear, stadium-approved bags are everywhere now, and you can find them in all styles and price ranges. Before you shop, check the specific rules and regulations at your stadium. These can vary widely!
Suzy’s Pro Tip: Some of the cheap bags look really cheap! (Which may or may not matter to you!) The chain can be a dead giveaway.

AVARAAvara’s stadium-approved crossbody bags are unique! You’ll love the trim in your school’s colors and the fun printed straps on each bag! Check them out HERE.

HAMMITT – It can be challenging to make a clear, plastic handbag look chic, but Hammitt does it! Check out their clear bags HERE.

AMAZON – There is a good selection of clear bags Amazon. Start HERE. You might want to consider ordering a couple and returning the ones that don’t meet your standards.

MARLEY LILLY – If you’re looking for a monogrammed bag, check out THIS crossbody bag and THIS wristlet at Marley Lilly. They both come in neutral gold, and would be so cute monogrammed in your school colors either with your initials, or the initials of your school! (Monogramming is FREE.)

Here are some of my favorite clear handbags to consider:

The great thing about game day jewelry is that, even if you’re usually pretty conservative on the jewelry front, you can go a little crazy and step outside the box a little (or a lot!). Here are my very favorite places to shop for Game Day jewelry.

YEP! Avara to the rescue again! You’ll love their game day earrings! They’re big, bold, and well, a little extra! (As game day earrings should be!) Click HERE to see if they carry your school!

If you’re not familiar with Ashley Nichole, you might want to check it out. It was recommended to me by a friend and I’ve purchased many items for our front doors as well as front gate from them.
