How to Style the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year — Viva Magenta!
The 2023 Pantone Color of the Year is called Viva Magenta! It’s a shade rooted in nature that is a cross between the red family and the pink family. According to the folks at the Pantone Institute, Viva Magenta is “brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.” It’s meant to evoke joy and encourage self-expression and experimentation. Um, nobody asked me, but that seems like a lot of pressure to put on a color; just sayin’! 😂

“In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.
Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.”
Leatrice Eiseman
Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute
I like this eye-catching, universally-flattering shade! Plus, I think it’s easy to find and style! It pairs well with other jewel tones (like emerald and sapphire) as well as neutrals like beige and other earth tones. So whether you decide to incorporate a touch of it into your wardrobe or add a touch of it to your home decor, you can’t go wrong!
Viva Magenta AT HOME
Viva Magenta is so easy to work into your decor as a striking accent color! Consider adding a toss pillow, floral arrangement, or lamp in an otherwise neutral room.
Viva Magenta IN YOUR WARDROBE
If you feel strong and confident, create a fashion moment by wearing Viva Magenta head to toe! If you’re not ready for that, pair an otherwise neutral outfit with a statement piece like a jacket, a dress, blouse, or pants.
Dresses
Need a dress for an upcoming spring or summer wedding? Me too! Pair one of these stunning options with nude pumps or kitten heel sandals for a chic style statement.
Jackets & Cardigans
To transition into spring with style, wear all black with a Viva Magenta jacket or cardigan on top. Hello, pop of color!
Bottoms
Pair Viva Magenta pants with a white poplin shirt for a crisp, clean look! I especially like THIS Viva Magenta slip skirt. I own this exact skirt in another color and love the way the fabric just skims over my lumps and bumps! (Not to mention, it washes great!)
Tops
Let’s face it, a top is probably the easiest way to work Viva Magenta into your wardrobe this season. It’s a universally-flattering shade that will add roses to your cheeks and a flush to your lips! You’ll find cozy sweaters, casual tops, preppy tops, and even dressy tops.
Loungewear & Activewear
If you want to work Viva Magenta into your loungewear or your activewear, have at it! From joggers and exercise skirts to pullovers, hoodies, and leggings, options abound.
Shoes
Shoes are one of the easiest ways to work a pop of color into your wardrobe, and I’ve rounded up some great Viva Magenta loafers, sneakers, sandals, pumps, and heeled sandals!
Accessories
Work Viva Magenta into your accessories with a belt, handbag, or jewelry for a subtle style statement that tells the world that you keep up with the trends! (Or that you’re an Empty Nest Blessed subscriber! 🤣)

This just continues the pink trend for you!!😊 It’s a pretty color! You didn’t show a baby outfit for a new little girl! 😉👶
Warm greetings from icy Austin!
Betsie,
Viva Magenta might be A LOT for an infant! Hahaha! The color is pink-ish, but with definite coral and red undertones. I found a few variations in shade + colors online aren’t always true! But I did my best!
Stay warm in icy Austin! We’re snuggled up here in Dallas, too!
xoxo
