Where We’ve Been

Sanibel Island, Florida

Walt Disney World

In February, we took my son and daughter-in-law to Walt Disney World! We wanted to celebrate the completion of his MBA, and we offered to take them on a trip for his graduation gift. When they chose Disney, we were thrilled! My pal and empty nester travel specialist Shannon Leyerle of Vacations by Shannon helped us plan the whole thing and stayed in touch with us about every detail while we were there. Miami

Bob has an office in Miami where he works about one week a month. I usually go with him at least once or twice a year. I was tired of freezing while we shot 📸 spring looks here in Dallas, so I decided March was the perfect time to accompany him! We worked a lot, shot a lot, had a blast, and ate so much seafood!

We left on Friday this week to head to Waco to have lunch with a friend and then on to Austin to see our eldest son.

Barton Creek Resort

This weekend, we’ll be at Barton Creek Resort in the Texas Hill Country! We’ll be playing lots of golf. (Which means the men play, and I get my steps in by walking the course!) I mostly like golf for the clothes 😂, so I bought a cute UPF 50+ ruffle polo top and skort at Lilly Pulitzer to wear during Sunday’s round.

Shipshewana, Indiana

In my EASTER DECOR & EASTER TABLESCAPE FINDS UNDER $30 post, I shared that I typically host our family’s Easter Brunch at our home, but this year was going to be different! Our daughter, a musical theater actress, is currently performing for Blue Gate Musicals at their theater in the heart of Amish Country, and we’ll be heading up to visit her and see her perform.

Sanibel Island, Florida

Sanibel Island is our favorite place on earth, and spring is our favorite time to be there. It’s not too humid, the bugs are fewer, and if you go after Easter, the “snowbirds” have cleared out! In May, we’re taking one of our couple friends with us, and we’re excited to show them our beautiful island! In June, we’ll have our family with us. It’s always a special time! I’ve been ordering swimsuits like crazy to get ready! We published our BEST SWIMSUITS FOR WOMEN OVER 50 post just in time. 😀 This year, I’m especially taken with the swimwear at Anne Cole! I love her colorful, happy designs. Sadly, most of her designs won’t work on flat-chested me! 😕

New York City + Bermuda Cruise

We’ve wanted to go to Bermuda for so long, and before the pandemic, we’d planned this cruise out of New York City! We’re finally going this summer after putting it off for two years! I think it will be so cool to cruise out of New York Harbor!

We’ve always loved New York, and we’ll be going a few days ahead of our cruise to see some shows, eat at some of our favorite spots, and enjoy the city. We’re staying at the Park Hyatt New York, and we’ve already got tickets to see Six and Music Man (Hugh Jackman &Sutton Foster!). Then we’ll start our 7-day cruise to Bermuda. We’re cruising on Oceania, which is our go-to cruise line! It was started by two foodies, and the food and service are incredible. They are wonderful at accomodating dietary restrictions, which is a big deal for me since I have so many! (See THIS post for details.)

For our Bermuda cruise, we’ll be treating the ship kind of like a floating resort hotel! After a day at sea, we’ll anchor in St. George for three days and then Hamilton (on the other side of the island) for three more days. We’re looking forward to lots of golf and snorkeling!
