How to Find the Best Spring Tops for Your Face & Body Shape
This post is sponsored by Nordstrom. I only highlight and share products that I use and truly love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Empty Nest Blessed!
Spring tops are so much fun! They’re the perfect way to frame your pretty face and freshen up your spring wardrobe without spending a bundle! Today I’m sharing Nordstrom Made spring tops that will make a statement, especially if you follow my advice on how to wear them and how to know which style will look best on you.
As always, click on any pink text link or image you see for more information.
Nordstrom Made Brands for Spring Tops
Y’all know that Nordstrom carries hundreds of brands across multiple verticals, but when I discovered Nordstrom Made Brands, I felt like I’d stumbled upon a secret that no one else knew! Nordstrom’s in-house brands are well-made, well-priced, and always on-trend. (To explore all of them, click HERE.)
And of course, since you’re shopping at Nordstrom, you know you’ll always get free shipping and returns along with the option to order online and pick up curbside or in-store. Not only that, but you know Nordstrom’s Nordy Club is among the best loyalty programs in the country! You earn points toward Nordstrom Notes, which you can then use just like cash on future purchases.
Spring Tops That Are Best for You
There are so many spring tops to choose from, and as the weather warms, I start to get so excited about all the options! For me, it’s good to make myself stop, and consider a few things before I make a purchase: (1) the best style for my body type, (2) and the best neckline for my face shape, and (3) the best colors for my skin tone. A top might be cute on the hanger, but it’s not the right top for you unless it makes you look great and feel confident!
Spring Top Styles: V-Neck
You can find all kinds of V-neck tops out there, and they’re favorites of many women! You can find v-neck tees, tanks, sweater vests, surplice blouson tops, and even camisoles, like the lace-trimmed one I’m wearing in the photos below.
Most Flattering On:
V-neck tops are facially slimming! They pull the eye down, slimming the face and neck area. When shopping, be thoughtful about the fit, making sure the shoulders, bust, and tummy areas are all in proportion. A good fit in the shoulders but a too-clingy tummy area isn’t what you want. (If that particular thing is an issue for you, consider a cute surplice blouson top like THIS one with slimming vertical lines instead.
Least Flattering On:
If you have a long face or heart-shaped face, like mine, a v-neck style is probably not the best for you, as it will visually make your face look longer. When you’re selecting a top, make sure you’re comfortable with how deep the “v” is and that your bra works well under the top. Women who have significant sun damage or wrinkles on their décolletage may also find v-neck styles difficult to wear.
Open Edit Eyelash Lace Trim Satin Crop Camisole (Also in THIS fun green shade for spring!) | Halogen Faux Leather Joggers (Nearly sold out! Other options HERE.) | Black Pumps
(I wanted you to get a good view of this pretty cami, but typically I would wear it under a blazer or a long cardigan or a shorter, waist-cropped cardigan. (Click through on any of the images below to see all of the color options.)

I think Nordstrom Made Brands offer an amazing selection of well-priced, stylish v-neck tops, tees, tanks (I love THIS bra-friendly tank!), and more! Check out the cute styles I rounded up below.
Spring Top Styles: Funnel Neck
For obvious reasons, high necks, turtlenecks, or even mock turtleneck tops aren’t typically associated with spring and summer! In fact, even in the cooler months the classic turtleneck (which will always be around for cooler months) was largely supplanted by the looser-fitting funnel neck styles this past season. If it’s still chilly where you live, but you’re feeling the spring vibes, a brightly-colored cozy funnel neck pullover like THIS one might be just the thing!
Most Flattering On:
Even if you don’t like the look of tightly-fitting traditional turtlenecks, you can wear funnel neck tops! I’ve found that tight-neck turtlenecks can almost give me a double chin, because they push all of my loose skin up to the top of my neck. You won’t have that problem with funnel necks!
Least Flattering On:
Women with short or wide necks might want to skip this style and opt for a v-neck instead.
Spring Top Styles: Crew Neck
This is my favorite style! It works for my heart-shaped face, and it makes me feel covered up. Also, since I’m always cold, it pairs well with a v-neck cardigan, like THIS one that comes in a variety of colors.
Crew necks tops look great on most people and you can find them in a variety of styles.
Most Flattering On:
Crew necks tops look good on most people. They offer good sun protection and pair well with blazers or long cardigans, or short cardigans.
Least Flattering On:
As with funnel neck tops, women who are self-conscious about their necks may want to opt for another style.
Halogen Plissé Pleat Top | Treasure & Bond Paperbag Waist Pants
I love the lightweight fabric and texture of these plissé pleats! Click HERE for the other pretty prints and HERE for an unpleated, sleeveless, tank top version.
Plissé pleats are a fresh trend this year, and the vertical lines make them so figure-flattering. Check out THESE airy plissé pleat tanks that will take you from the office to date night or a special event.
Many t-shirts are crewneck style. This year, you’ll see lots of cropped tees! Some show a lot of midsection (I’m going to leave those to the younger generation!) and others are cropped perfectly to pair with high-waist shorts, skorts, or pants (see below).
The crewneck ruffle rib tank I’m wearing below is one I first shared with you in my post called 6 Ways to Transition Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring! It’s been an ENB best-seller this spring! It’s so versatile and it comes in multiple spring color options.
Treasure & Bond Fitted Ruffle Rib Tank (runs small, consider ordering a size up) | Treasure & Bond Paperbag Waist Pants | Halogen Side Slit Cardigan (See all 5 color options HERE) | Black Pumps
With a simple crewneck neckline, there’s a lot you can do on the bottom of a shirt! This season, peplum crewnecks are big, as are crewneck tops with lace embellishments or lace sleeves. Also, keep an eye out for crewneck tops with puff sleeves or tops with semi-sheer lace overlays! (Stock up on your knit camis, because these styles are everywhere!)
Spring Top Styles: Scoop Neck
Similar to the v-neck style, but with a softer line, the versatile scoop neck top works as a layering piece but is even better on its own.
Most Flattering On:
The scoop neck style looks great on most body types and face shapes. When shopping, be careful about the fit of the top. Think about what will happen when you bend over! You might want to opt for a stay-in-place, trendy square neck top instead.
Least Flattering On:
If you’re self-conscious about your décolletage, you might want to opt for a crewneck style or funnel neck style as an alternative.
Spring Top Styles: Square Neck/Sweetheart Neck
The classic sweetheart neckline is always a pretty option, and thanks to trending shows like Bridgerton, it, and especially the square neck top are this year’s freshest looks. Both styles are usually accompanied by bra-friendly sleeves that are squared off at the shoulder.
Treasure & Bond Textured Babydoll Top (Also HERE in pink.) | Caslon High Waist Skinny Jeans
Most Flattering On:
The sweetheart neckline is ideal for anyone who looks and feels great in a v-neck top. The square neckline is pretty universally flattering since the neckline usually doesn’t go down low and usually stays in place.
Least Flattering On:
The sweetheart neckline can tend to show cleavage, so if that’s not comfortable for you, you’ll want to stick with a square neck top instead.
By the way, the smocked bodice, square neck dress is this season’s hottest dress look. I love THIS one, and it comes in four colors! I shared it with you in my recent 7 Spring Dress Styles That Are Perfect For All Your Upcoming Events post.

Spring Top Styles: Polo Neck
I don’t need to tell you that the polo neck top is a true classic for men, women, boys, and girls! This preppy style will always be with us!
Most Flattering On:
With a tailored collar that brings all the attention to your pretty face, the polo top looks good on everyone.
Least Flattering On:
If you like a softer, more feminine look, this might not be your favorite style. I made it work for me by opting for a soft, springy pink in THIS cozy, polo top.

If you’re like me, when you’re shopping you may find yourself drawn to certain colors or spring prints that appeal to you aesthetically. While there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s good to pause and consider which style might look best on you. Now that you know, you’re ready to shop!
I’d love to know your thoughts on this post! Which style of spring top are you most drawn to? Want to take another look at the Nordstrom Made Brand styles I featured in this post? Keep scrolling, and be sure to click on any top you see to check out the various colors and patterns available. (Also, a bunch of them are on sale!🙌)
This post featured Nordstrom Made spring tops, but I mentioned other Nordstrom Made items too! I’m linking those for you as well.
Hi! I am a fairly new subscriber and want to say thank you for all of your fun and informative posts. I shop almost exclusively online for clothing with Nordstrom or Amazon for the free shipping and free returns so I really appreciate Nordstrom posts! Will you please tell me the difference between the Nordstrom brands in terms of quality? Thank you so much.
Andrea,
First of all, welcome! I am SO HAPPY you’re here! I think you’re asking about Nordstrom Made Brands, right? As opposed to all of the brands carried AT Nordstrom! I’ll answer you assuming that, but if I’m incorrect, please let me know! First of all, HERE is the page that can help: https://rstyle.me/+e4sywbFQ3rBA72Iz-X0r9A
Next, my opinion! 😀
BP is more geared toward juniors. The quality and styling may not meet your standards and preferred aesthetic. Open Edit is also a little edgy, also skewing younger. Treasure & Bond is good for basics and more tailored styles (think Gap!). Caslon is good for women our age. My favorites are Halogen for everyday mix & match. Chelsea28 has a decidedly feminine flair (great for nice dresses). Finally, Nordstrom Signature is more luxury-oriented, but without the designer price tag. I hope that helps!
Thank you so much for being here and shopping with me!
xoxo
