Hi Juliet,

I’m so glad you reached out! When you click “virtual try on,” a box should pop up that gives you three options. One is to upload a photo of yourself. The second is to select a model whose skin tone is similar to yours. The third is called “Live makeup” and it does require that you permit them to access the camera on your phone or computer to help you make a selection. (I think it’s easier to see on a laptop or tablet since the screen is larger.)
I assume you tried to use the camera! Once your photo pops up, select the color corrector you want to use from the selections on the right, and then use the fourth button on the right side of the camera screen (looks like a rectangle) to move the line on your screen from left to right. If you move it to the left, you’ll see what you look like with the color corrector on. If you move it to the right, you’ll see your face without the color corrector on. (I tried the blue one when I was playing around because it was the easiest to see on my face. That’s how I knew I was doing it correctly.)

My mother (who was a nurse) told me that they are as you stated–genetic. She had them. I think that most of my 6 younger siblings have them as well. I know that my sisters and I have been more vocal than our four brothers.
Thank you for adding ways for me to “hide” them. I do a pretty good job most of the time but it is always helpful to be able to get at them other ways.
