2024 Spring & Summer Shoe Styles to Know

One of the easiest ways to update your spring & summer wardrobe? A new pair of shoes! This year, it’s all about easy-to-walk-in ballet flats, ladylike kitten heels and slingbacks, and classic sandals. Today, I’m rounding up the best 2024 spring & summer shoe styles!

2024 Spring & Summer Shoe Styles: Colors & Textures

With a throwback to everything classic and ladylike, this season’s shoe styles are something I’m really excited to share with you all! Here’s what you’ll see:

• Metallics – Mostly silver, but gold too! Treat these as a neutral.
• Raffia/Woven – Look for these, mostly in sandals and slides, but also in ballet flats and slingbacks. (I love the texture! It adds interest to an outfit!)
• Denim – We see denim sandals, sneakers, Mary Janes, Kitten Heel slingbacks, and more!
• Net/Mesh – YEP! This one surprised me, too! Look for ballet flats, slingbacks, and more!
• Embellished – Look for bow or floral embellishments, along with buckles.
• Cap Toe – This classic Chanel-esque trend is so lovely! Look for ballet flats, pumps, and slingbacks.

You will continue to see neutrals, but if you are looking to update your wardrobe, you really need to add…METALLICS!

2024 Spring & Summer Shoe Styles: Trends

Shoes tend to change subtly from year to year—but change they do! Know that you don’t have to embrace every new trend 😊! Pick the ones you like, and go for it!

1. Updated Sneakers

We’re seeing two main styles of sneakers this year. Retro 90s Grandpa-style sneakers and low-profile sneakers.

Low Profile

Wear these low profile sneakers with relaxed trousers and all styles of denim. They’ll also look great with shorts this summer.

Chunky Retro

The 90’s style “grandpa style” sneaker trend I told you about last year is still going strong! I, for one, am thrilled! You’ll see lots of the New Balance 327 and New Balance 574 sneakers out and about in great colors. Here are some others we love.

2. Girly Flats

Both ballet flats and Mary Janes make me feel like I’m about five years old when I wear them! Anyone else? 🤣 Still, what’s not to love about these comfortable and darling shoes?

If there was an “it” shoe for spring, it’s the ballet flat (followed closely by the Mary Jane)! Find a pair you love at a price from designer to discount, and wear them everywhere! Bonus points if they incorporate the metallic, raffia, cap toe, or net trends! 🏆

Mary Janes

I have yet to snag a pair of Mary Janes, but they’re on my list! I love them with trousers, dresses, and full skirts. You’ll not only find lots of flat-soled Mary Janes, but also pump-style Mary Janes and slingback Mary Janes as well. This is a great updated style for church, Mother’s Day, Easter, bridal & baby showers, etc. Check out THESE in mesh/net and THESE in woven raffia!

3. Ladylike

Put your classic stilettos (no matter the heel height) in the back of your closet! They’ll never really go out of style, but this year, you’ll find them replaced by much easier-to-walk-in kitten heels. You’ll also see a lot of slingbacks (often combined with a kitten heel).

Kitten Heels

Kitten heel pumps are dressier than block heels but infinitely easier to walk in than your classic stiletto pumps! I love kitten heel mules, too!

Suzy’s Pro Tip: If you’re in the market for kitten heel pumps, I’d definitely go with a slingback for the most updated look.

Slingbacks

If there’s one updated shoe you need in your wardrobe this year, it’s a slingback! From flats and sandals to pumps (and everything in between!), these are THE defining shoes for spring & summer 2024.

4. Net/Mesh

I’ll be honest; it took me a little while to get used to these, but they’re growing on me! Let me know in the comments if you like them! THIS floral embroidered ballet flat is absolutely stunning!

5. Raffia/Woven

Embrace the texture as an interesting element in your outfit. Clearly, “THE” raffia/woven shoe is the raffia slide with a buckle embellishment! You can find these at all price points from lots of brands! I found THIS cute $25 pair from Target! It’s a dupe of THIS $130 pair at Free People!

This season, you’ll find woven raffia ballet flats, raffia platform sandals, raffia sneakers, raffia mules, and more!

6. Platform/Chunky Sandals

Call them platform sandals or “flatforms,” but definitely consider these comfy sandals in your wardrobe. They’re great with shorts or a casual dress or skirt for summer, and they’re usually great for walking/sightseeing. This year, consider an update with a pair in metallic or raffia!

7. Metallics

For a simple way to update your wardrobe this year, snag a pair of metallic shoes or sandals in your favorite style.
