Happy Weekend, y’all! After teasing us with a spring-like weekend just seven days ago, this week in Dallas, we had wind chills in the 20s! We’re back up into the 60s and 70s this weekend, so we’re hoping to be able to open up the back doors and enjoy the fresh air! A few years ago we bit the bullet and installed one of those screens on our back porch that rolls up and down with the touch of a button, and it’s been one of the best investments we ever made! It allows us to open the french doors and really use the back porch as another room of our house. (When the weather’s good and the pollen’s not crazy, that is!) Hopefully, we’ll be doing that this weekend!
What Went Down This Week
Up on my Instagram, I shared that I was spending a lot of time this week working on my series of Spring & Summer Styles posts that are coming up the week after next. It takes a lot of research and boring techy kind of stuff to pull all of that together, but I know you’re counting on me to bring it home for you! I’m doing my best!!!
Spring Style Preview Sneak Peek
Here’s a little sneak peek of the trends:
(Click any pink text link or image below for more information!)
- Tie waist everything! From sweaters (like the one I’m wearing in this post) to pants, skirts, and dresses, look for this flattering trend to be all over the place.
- Surprising color trend: neon pink! Another one: seafoam green!
- Ladylike cap-toe shoes are a fresh look, whether ballet flats or easy-to-walk in block heel pumps.
- Crochet is back (especially in multi-colored patterns)! Look for pretty dusters, handbags, and more!
Watch for my upcoming posts the week of Feb. 17 to learn more!
I’ve gotten several DMs in the past few weeks from people who were concerned because they haven’t seen my Instagram posts or Instastories lately! First of all, let me say I was so happy that they missed me! 💗 As for why it was happening, I’m not 100% sure, but I think I have a pretty good idea!
You might have heard recently that “likes” were going away on Instagram. Well, lemme tell ya’, your girl Suzy is down for it! My likes have been pitiful lately, and it’s kind of embarrassing! If you follow me on Insta, and you haven’t seen my posts lately, know that you can do something about it! Here’s how things work over on
Insta: Instagram’s algorithm computer bots “learn” the content you enjoy (and the content creators you enjoy), and that’s what you’ll see more of in your feed. (Your “feed” is the content that comes up when you hit the home button on Instagram and scroll.) The best thing you can do to show the algorithm bots that you like something is to interact with it, so liking, commenting, and saving posts you like from your favorite Instagrammers is really important if you want to keep seeing their posts!
It’s funny, because while overall everyone’s feed views are way down, Instastory views are way up! I post on my Instastory multiple times a day, and I love it! It provides a way for me to candidly share my thoughts, give you a BTS look at my life, and share products and things that inspire me. So if you interact with my feed photos and my Instastories, you will start seeing them more often. If you want to jump-start things, you can click HERE to go right to my profile page. There you can click on my photos to like or comment on them, and click on my profile pic in the top left corner to watch my latest Story! 😃
This Week’s Best-Seller
Speaking of my Instastory, this week I shared the FlyCaddy—a product that I really love—and it was a big hit with my followers! (One lady DMed me and told me she bought one for every member of her family! 😂) I take it with me whenever I travel, and complete strangers always ask me where I got it! It’s a genius product! Where to Shop for Gifts
If you love Amazon, you may know that I have an Empty Nest Blessed Amazon Shop right on the Amazon site! My Amazon page is the home of my year-round gift guides (Need birthday present ideas for adult kids, senior adults, grandkids?) as well as lists of my favorite Amazon fashion items and beauty products. So if you haven’t checked it out in a while, you might want to do that HERE. (Every time I mention Amazon, I’m required to state that as an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission from any qualifying purchases you might make as a result of this post. 😀)
My tie-waist tunic sweater also comes in red, and it’s under $30 right now! It’s lightweight and flattering (👍🏻 for waist-defining ties, amirite?) and perfect for transitioning into spring. It’s from a brand called Boston Proper, where I’ve been shopping a lot lately! (BTW, to see where I’m shopping at the moment, you can check out the right sidebar of my website for an up-to-date list of my current faves!) I paired it with the most comfortable suede booties from Sam Edelman. I think the cushy insoles and flexible soles make Sam Edelman one of the best brands for midlife feet!
I hope your weekend is full of fun, family, and friends!
