Happy Weekend, empty nester friends! I hope you have fun plans!
We’re spending the weekend in Waco at Baylor Homecoming! Did you know that Baylor’s homecoming parade is the largest in the nation? It’s always so much fun to reconnect with old friends at the parade and to check out the floats! (Of course, I had to make my pilgrimage to The Silos to check out Joanna’s take on fall! (BTW, if you’re considering a pilgrimage to Waco and Magnolia sometime soon, you can check out my Waco Travel Guide HERE.)
I’ve actually been in Waco since Tuesday, because you might have heard that on Wednesday I taught college! 🤣 (Just call me Professor Suzy!) Yep! I taught three sections of a Consumer Behavior class. We talked about all things marketing and the Influencer industry.
Here’s What I Wore (Because I Keep Getting That Question in my DMs!) 🤣
These high-rise coated skinny jeans.
This short-sleeve sweater tee with faux leather sleeves. (I front-tucked it but left the back untucked.)
This snake print moto jacket. (Several of the students complimented me on it!)
These suede & snake-embossed peep-toe pumps.
This reversible snake-embossed and gray belt.
I’ve spoken to lots of groups, but somehow teaching a college class really intimidated me! Maybe it was because I was speaking to kids just a little younger than my own or maybe it was the college setting, but I was honestly pretty nervous. (And I never get nervous!)
Have you heard that saying, “Do one thing every day that scares you?” Honestly, I don’t think I have the stamina for that! 😳 I get WAY too worked up when I have to do something that I find really scary! 🤣
That said, I do think that as women over fifty, we should be intentional about challenging ourselves in some way, shape, or form every single day! Maybe it’s just doing 5 more minutes on the elliptical, even when you think you can’t go another minute. 💪🏻 Maybe it’s trying a new, complicated recipe that you’ve been wanting to tackle but have been putting off because you’re afraid of failure.👩🍳 Or maybe it’s risking rejection by calling someone you’ve wanted to get to know better and asking them to lunch. 🥗 Whatever it is for you, I promise, the payoff once it’s done will be SO worth it! 😊
I challenged myself this week to do something I’d never done before, and I’m so glad I did! It was intimidating- mostly in my mind—because it was something new—but I prayed, prepared, focused, and I did it! And guess what? I’m pretty proud of myself. Overcoming my feelings of inadequacy brought me so much joy! 🙌🏻
So that’s my challenge to you: push yourself out of your comfort zone and grow, learn, and create even if you’re scared. You’ll be surprised at how alive it will make you feel! 💗💕 (Take it from me, because I’m a college professor now and all…🤣)
BTW, if you’d be interested in seeing a blog post about what I taught, let me know in the comments, okay?
I don’t know about you, but I completely forgot it was Columbus Day on Monday! That means there are some great sales this weekend! 🙌
Best Beauty Sales of the Weekend
CITY BEAUTY | A couple of months ago, City Beauty sent me a new product that hadn’t yet officially launched. I have loved it and have been dying to share it with you! But I couldn’t! City Beauty made me wait for it to officially launch before giving me permission to share it with you! It’s called Blue Defense HydoGel, and it’s an all-in-one moisturizer + serum + blue light protectant. I’ve been using it twice a day in place of a serum and I’ve really benefitted from the increased hydration. It contains triple the Hyaluronic Acid that most products contain! Y’all, my dryness has vanished! (You can read more about it HERE.) Because of my ongoing relationship with this brand (I think their products work and they’re affordable!), I have a standing 10% discount exclusively for my followers. But from Sunday, Oct. 13-Tuesday, Oct. 15, that discount will be 20% sitewide!!! Use the code EMPTYNESTBLESSED at checkout to take advantage of this deal. (My first introduction to this brand was through their lip plumpers, which I use faithfully every single day! Click HERE to read about them.)
SKINSTORE | This is an awesome destination for skincare from brands like Elemis, Perricone MD, Redken, Paula’s Choice and lots more. (Check out the full list of brands HERE.) Right now, they’re having a Friends & Family sale! Get 25% off sitewide with code FF25.

J. MCLAUGHLIN | I love this brand, and I know lots of you love it too. Right now they’re offering 15% off when you join their mailing list, so this might be a good time to check them out if you haven’t already.
This pretty floral applique top will be a staple of my holiday wardrobe this year, I’m just sure of it! I paired it with fun gold accents and these super-comfy girlfriend jeans. They’re not as tight as skinny jeans but not as loose as boyfriend jeans. (Which makes them feel just about perfect!)
Have a wonderful weekend, whatever you’re up to, my friends!
