This post is sponsored by Front Porch Packages. Thank you for supporting brands and companies I love.
When one of my adult kids is going through something significant, and I’m not there, it’s tough! Whether they’re celebrating a birthday or a promotion, or even struggling with illness, stress, or relationship issues, sometimes it just feels like texts and calls aren’t enough. When my daughter went through a tough time this summer, I was able to go, be with her, and practice the ministry of presence in her life. It was a huge blessing.
As a parent, you can’t always be there. And that hurts. So what can you do when they need a little love, and you’re not nearby? Today I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to tell you about an empty nester business that can help! Enter Teresa & Carmalyn, otherwise known as the Care Package Queens! Their company is called Front Porch Packages, and you are absolutely going to love it.
Teresa and Carmalyn met when they volunteered alongside their daughters with National Charity League. When their girls went off to college, they wanted to send them care packages and tried to organize a “packing party” with their friends. It was challenging to find a date that worked because everyone was so busy. It was frustrating, but out of that experience, the idea for Front Porch Packages was born. The two friends decided to create care packages that busy parents could send to loved ones. They wrote a mission statement (“We do all the work, YOU get all the love!”) and with an eye to the busy parents that were their target demographic, they decided to keep things simple. To keep operating costs down, they even decided against a website; choosing instead to run their business from a Facebook page. They make it so easy for their customers because they do all the shopping, wrapping, and shipping. And you get the thank you! (It’s a genius business idea, right?)
Both women already owned businesses, with Teresa teaching piano through her piano studio, and Carmalyn designing hand-stamped jewelry through her company Good Carma Hand Stamped Jewelry, but neither had ever worked with a partner. They started walking together for exercise, and they talked about it for six months before they launched. With hearts for serving others and a joyful attitude, they knew they wanted their care packages to exude positivity, motivation, inspiration, support, and love, with a focus on high-quality for a low price.
I found out about Front Porch Packages through some mutual friends, and I first fell in love with their happy and fun-loving posts on Instagram. When it came time for Becca’s birthday, I knew exactly what I wanted to do, so I did something I rarely do. I reached out to them.
Most of the companies I collaborate with on Empty Nest Blessed contact me, and I get at least two or three requests every single day! As you can probably tell by the fact that you don’t see many collaborations here, I turn down 99% of the requests I receive! I’m super picky about the brands and companies I agree to work with because my standards are very high and I take your trust in me very seriously. So when I do bring you a sponsored post, you can know with certainty that I have thoroughly vetted them and trust them completely. In the case of Front Porch Packages, not only have I vetted them, but I’ve used them, spent time with them over the phone (and by text and email as well). They are fantastic.
What I love the most is that Teresa and Carmalyn are empty nester moms like us. They have kids in college, and they “get it.” They’ve embraced the season of the empty nest by spreading joy and love, while at the same time making a difference in the lives of others (and providing a service that meets a need for empty nesters). When I asked them about starting a business as empty nesters (something I get lots of questions about), they said that believe all empty nester women need to have plans and make the most of this season of life. Since they met doing volunteer work, starting a business centered around serving others and bringing joy was a natural fit. They each bring complementary gifts to the business, so they work well together. Teresa says they have so much fun; it never seems like work!
Front Porch Packages offers specific care packages that are customizable for just about any holiday you can think of, including Halloween and Valentines Day. They also provide packages specifically geared toward college students, like the Fab Finals Package (lots of orders for that one right now!)and the Roomie Package (especially sized for 2-4 roomies). If you’ve got an adult kid serving in the military, you might be interested in their Active Military Package. Other packages can be customized for recipients who are new moms, sorority/fraternity new members, newly engaged couples, or elderly/homebound individuals. (As well as just about anything you can think of.)
Just this week I received this DM from an Empty Nest Blessed reader, and I was thrilled to be able to send her over to Front Porch Packages. Five minutes later, she’d placed an order!
Front Porch Packages decorates the box, packs it with over 40 items, and includes a hand-written note of encouragement with a message that you provide on the order form. Their care packages focus on positive and motivational products that uplift the receiver. They hand decorate each box, and they research and shop for each item specifically to encourage the recipient.
Becca’s Birthday Package
I ordered a Birthday Package for Becca and shared her dietary restrictions on my order form. Then, knowing I was talking to other mothers, I got a little out of hand! I told them that she’d been pretty stressed lately, and that, as her mother, I thought she wasn’t drinking enough water and sleeping enough! (Hello, helicopter parent!!!) Hahahahaha!
Teresa and Carmalyn sent me a few pictures of what was included in Becca’s package right before they sent it.
The box arrived right on time (Front Porch Packages has never lost a box or even had one arrive late!), and I received notification that it had been delivered, but there was a mix up with her apartment complex and where the package was, etc. I’d told Becca to expect a special package on her Birthday, and when she checked with the complex, they said it wasn’t there! At a loss for what to do, I contacted Front Porch Packages, and they really went above and beyond, contacting not only USPS, but even calling the apartment complex to see what happened. They unraveled the mystery, located the package at the apartment complex, and filled me in on all the details. We finally connected Becca with her package, and she had such fun opening it!

The adorable sweatshirt my daughter is wearing is from one of my favorite Etsy shops, and I gave it to her for her Birthday. She and I are both extra, and we own it! I think graphic tees and sweatshirts make great, affordable gifts and I’ve put together a few of my faves below. Click the images for more information.
