I honestly don’t remember the last time I saw a dress that just grabbed me like this. I knew I had to have it for Easter, but I also knew that it was one that would stay in my wardrobe for a long, long time. This floral jacquard dress is something special, y’all. I hope I’m not being overly dramatic (Let’s be real, it’s me. Of course I’m being overly dramatic!) when I tell you that the moment I put it on, I just felt like a lady. Oh, and did I mention that it’s 25% off right now?
In case you’re not familiar with it, jacquard is a highly textured cotton fabric where the design is woven into the fabric rather than printed or dyed, resulting in a raised, intricate pattern. It’s created through a loom process, which is programmed to raise each thread independently of the other threads. In fact, the term “jacquard” itself is after the inventor of the loom attachment, Joseph Marie Jacquard. Weaves can be used with various colors and types of threads, typically resulting in beautiful and soft gradations of color tones and bold, complex outlined patterns.
Don’t faint, but my floral jacquard dress is made from polyester, and it’s machine washable (on delicate)!
The shades of pink in this dress go from a light, almost purplish hue to a rose, and then on to a red. In fact, when I got it home, I tried it on with my new red shoes (How fun are they?!) and immediately ordered a red bolero to wear on top so that I would have the option of creating an entirely different look. In fact, at the risk of digressing (Let’s be real, it’s me. Of course I’m digressing!), I will tell you that this classic three-quarter-sleeve bolero is only $34 (with free shipping) and it comes in six colors. I love a bolero because it never goes out of style, and the fact that the bolero hemline hits at the waist makes it a flattering look for many shapes and sizes of women. If you’re cold-natured like me, this bolero cardi really is the perfect little layering piece for summer.
Y’all may we just pause a moment in admiration for these shoes? (Let’s be real, it’s me. Of course, I want to admire the shoes!) They’re suede, and absolutely the perfect complement to the dress. Unlike some mules, these don’t make that “clomp, clomp” sound when you wear them, and they stay on your feet really well. Just like the dress, they’re 25% off right now.
I snagged the three-quarter-sleeve cardigan in the beautiful matching rose tone, because I thought it was such a gorgeous hue. When I got home, I was amazed to see that there were several tops and dresses already in my closet that it matched. (High-five!) When I’m wearing a ladylike dress, I think the most flattering way to top it off is with my cardi or blazer laying over my shoulders. I find it keeps me just as warm as if I had it on, and I think it’s a more refined look.
A dress this beautiful doesn’t need much in the way of accessories. I added my CZ earrings, my dainty, feminine watch, and the two rings I always wear. My lipstick is the color I wear in most of my photo shoots. It’s a matte, waterproof lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips and really stands up to wear. (And Bob would tell you, kissing as well!) The shade I’m wearing is called latte confessions. It’s a great shade because it’s pretty universal and goes with everything. (I usually add a gloss on top.) Since we were shooting several outfits in several different color schemes during this photo shoot, I opted for a fun, white nail polish.
I wish with all of my heart that each of you could come over to my house and see this floral jacquard dress in person because not sure the photos do it justice! What are you wearing for Easter?
