Some people just require gifts that are more special than others! Today I’m so excited to share two great small businesses with you that make those oh-so-special gifts you just can’t find anywhere else. What do these two businesses have in common? The owners and their products radiate a joyful spirit and a passion for what they do. We’re gonna gift happy, y’all!
Combine my heart for hand-written communication with my love for giving a personalized gift, and you’ll know why I love this company. Steph Weibring, the owner of Joy Creative Shop, started her first paper company when she was in college, and her products were carried in over 300 stores nationwide. Since then, she’s done many other things, but her passion for paper always kept her coming back to paper goods. Joy Creative Shop carries custom notecards and notepads, greeting cards, tumblers and much more. Steph genuinely enjoys the process of designing, printing, and glittering (!) her colorful, hand-lettered designs, and she prints them on the finest quality papers. I appreciate the fact that she beautifully packages each order, making them gift-ready.
Did you read my post on the importance of gratitude in cultivating a happy heart? If so, you got a sneak peek at the darling Gratitude Journal that Steph and I designed specifically for Empty Nest Blessed readers. She priced it just right for gift giving. 🙂

You’ll want to check out everything at Joy Creative Shop. (Honestly, it will infuse your heart with a little bit of happy just to look at her bright and cheery designs!) As you think about all of the upcoming special occasions on your calendar, consider giving the gift of paper to that special someone.
Brainstorm Ceramics is a small business that specializes in personalized ceramic accessories and giftware. I’ve personally gifted Brainstorm Ceramics’ delightful and cheery ceramics as sorority pledge gifts, wedding gifts, and, yes, Christmas gifts. I’ve even gifted myself with one of her precious crosses and an adorable mini nativity scene. Mollie Walker, the owner of Brainstorm Ceramics, started her business in 1993 at age 23 after working in a corporate environment for two years. She says that experience helped her realize that she needed to find a job doing something about which she was unquestionably passionate. The first few years of business were so full, creatively, that Mollie would awaken in the night with ideas and have to jot them down on paper so she wouldn’t forget about them the following morning! The word ‘brainstorm’ in the name of her business is indicative of the way in which she designs, and her original business cards even depicted a silhouette of a pony-tailed girl with a little lightning bolt in her brain!
Each piece Mollie makes is prepared for painting, designed, and glazed through a series of two firings in a 2000-degree kiln. The firing process for each piece is 48 hours. I love her happy and colorful designs that are priced just right for gifting. You’ll want to check out everything at Brainstorm Ceramics, and, again, you’ll want to think ahead about upcoming occasions like family weddings or new grandbabies that may be coming in the next few months.
